Accessibility Statement
The MahaEsetu citizen portal is committed to conforming to GIGW 3.0 and WCAG 2.1 Level AA, so every citizen — including users of screen readers, keyboard-only navigation and scaled text — can apply for, track and receive services independently.
Conformance status
The portal targets partially conformant status with WCAG 2.1 AA: the majority of the standard is met, and known gaps are listed below with their remediation plan.
What we do
- Full keyboard operability — every action is reachable and operable without a mouse.
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Form fields carry programme-associated labels (including visually-hidden ones where the design is compact).
- Headings follow a strict h1 → h2 → h3 hierarchy with landmarks and ARIA labelling.
- Marathi (मराठी) is the canonical language; interface text is translated and never machine-replaced.
- Status is never conveyed by colour alone — badges, icons and text carry the same information.
- Text scales to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
Known limitations
- Scanned government documents (PDFs issued by departments) are outside our control; where a document is inaccessible, ask at your Kendra for an assisted read-out or an alternate format.
- Third-party payment and DigiLocker frames follow their own accessibility statements.
