Access for every citizen
Accessibility Statement
The citizen website is designed toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA and GIGW 3.0 principles. Conformance must be confirmed by testing, not assumed from this statement.
Features built into this website
- Semantic headings, landmarks, lists, tables and labelled form controls
- A keyboard-visible skip link to the main page content
- Visible focus indicators and full keyboard operation for core public journeys
- High-contrast text and status badges that do not rely on colour alone
- Responsive reflow for small screens and text enlargement
- Plain-language availability labels and descriptive links
- Reduced-motion support and print-friendly content
- Marathi Unicode content support and Odoo language switching when translations are installed
- Accessible table captions, status regions and breadcrumb navigation
Recommended browser and assistive-technology use
Use a current standards-compatible browser. The site is intended to work with keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, speech input and modern screen readers. Browser zoom should not prevent completion of the public discovery journey.
Known limitations before audit
- Legacy or uploaded PDFs may not yet have an accessible HTML equivalent.
- Third-party government portals opened from this website have their own accessibility status.
- Content translated by administrators requires language and reading-order review.
- Secure portal journeys and any CAPTCHA must be assessed separately.
- Map-based Kendra features, if added later, require a complete text/list alternative.
Request an accessible alternative
If a page, document or task is inaccessible, identify the page address, the information or action needed, your preferred format and—only if useful—the device or assistive technology involved. Do not include identity documents in an ordinary email.

Assessment process
Release acceptance should combine automated checks with keyboard, zoom, contrast, screen-reader, mobile and low-bandwidth testing. Issues should be logged by severity, assigned an owner, retested after correction and included in periodic GIGW review.
