Overview
MahaSarathi creates Maharashtra's permanent citizen identifier, MahaID. MahaONE provides the related single sign-on for participating government services. An eSetu citizen account or local citizen reference does not issue a Maha ID.
Prepare before registering
- Keep your Aadhaar card or number ready; use an Aadhaar Virtual ID if the official screen offers it.
- Keep access to the Aadhaar-linked mobile for the OTP-based e-KYC route.
- Carry your ration card only when using the ration-card route. Complete the verification and e-KYC steps shown there.
- Check your name, birth date and contact details. The MahaDBT 2.0 manual also asks applicants to prepare a working email address.
Registration and centre assistance
Open the official MahaSarathi portal, choose citizen registration, review the consent text, complete the offered verification steps and check the resulting details. Save the government-issued Maha ID securely. Authorised records may be retrieved after the relevant consent.
A participating SETU / Maha e-Seva centre may help navigate the process. Confirm its current service and operator access first. The citizen should control OTP entry and consent. Keep any acknowledgement and itemised receipt; sign out after an assisted session.
The official MahaDBT 2.0 citizen manual directs new registrations through MahaSarathi. Follow the current portal for the chosen scheme and academic year. Maha ID registration does not by itself approve a benefit.
